  Dollar General, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF) and Unilever USA hosted Allenbrook Elementary School in Charlotte, North Carolina for the On Track to Read program, which supports education and encourages the community’s love of reading.In partnership with NASCAR Hall of Fame driver and North Carolina native, Dale Earnhardt Jr., nearly 300 pre-K through fifth grade students attended a special book reading, followed by a surprise $50,000 donation to the school through DG’s Reading Revolution program. Students were each gifted a new book and backpack while teachers and staff received DG gift cards for classroom supplies and materials.Read more: https://lnkd.in/gSencsaa

Without you guys, I don't know what we would have done."Thomas S. of Ardmore, OK had just arrived home from his job at the Dollar General Ardmore Distribution Center when shortly thereafter his father alerted him to call 9-1-1 as the house was on fire. While the family made it out safely, the home was a total loss. Thomas applied for and received funds from the Employee Assistance Foundation to aid in rebuilding after the loss.When disasters devastate communities, DG and its employees are there to help, #ServingOthers and working to provide support for those who need it most. During Disaster Preparedness Month and year-round, in addition to its Employee Assistance Foundation, DG partners with organizations like American Red Cross and World Central Kitchen to help make a difference.
